You’re buying a home with security devices
A new home may come with a home security system. All the devices work, are hung in the best places, and are ready to go. In this example, just turn on the phone to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no usability problems, and they might offer ideas on upgrades. It's a fast appointment, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The old homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up fee to make the transfer a snap. If the outgoing residents downsize to a condo or retirement community, turning over the security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and bring your existing equipment with you
You may need to bring your favorite home security components with you to your new house when you move. It should be pretty easy to do, as many alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each device by yourself or use a professional installer to dismantle everything. Then a pro will set up the same features -- and any smart devices you want to add -- in the new home. And your home security contract will keep the same.
